Commit to Change

Count Me In!

Join the movement to take positive environmental action for a sustainable future.

Here are some actions you can take to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Individual Actions

Use Reusables

Carry a reusable water bottle, and bring your own mug to coffee shops.

Eat More Veggies

Switch one meal per week to a vegetarian or vegan option. Plant-based diets are healthier for both you and our planet.

Carry Bags

Carry reusable bags each time you shop instead of using single-use plastic or paper bags offered at the store.

Compost

Compost your food waste with a backyard composting container, or as part of a local composting program in your area.

Buy Less Stuff

Opt out of buying more “stuff” in one category (shoes, books, clothes, etc.).

Ground Shipping

Choose ground shipping instead of expedited, 2-day shipping when buying online.

Eat Organic

Switch one item per trip on your grocery list to an organic option (e.g. milk, bread).

Commute Smarter

Use public transportation, carpool, or ride your bike one day each week to work or school.

Slow Fast Fashion

Purchase clothes from sustainable sources and second-hand shops instead of from fast-fashion stores.

Community Actions

Volunteer

Make a habit of volunteering for a local non-profit organization that needs help.

Shop Local

Purchase produce from a local farmer's market or CSA (community supported agriculture).

Separate Waste

Help my workplace or a local organization to start a composting or recycling program.

Garden

Start a garden at home or in your community. Community gardens help increase access to fresh foods and promote relaxation.

Advocate

Attend a public hearing about an environmental issue in my neighborhood.

Bank Better

Switch to a not-for-profit credit union or a local community bank.

Green Your Workspace

Help your workplace switch to reusable plates, silverware, and cups in the lunch area or break room.

Create Market Change

Contact one company you buy from to request that they reduce packaging on their products.

Eat Out Sustainably

Ask one restaurant I visit to offer compostable products instead of plastics or styrofoam.
