Welcome back Deven Young, World Centric's new VP of Sales

World Centric’s new VP of Sales Deven Young is no stranger to the world of compostables. He joined World Centric back in 2007 as Director of National Accounts and worked on growing the business from its humble beginnings, selling a handful of compostable products with 8 full time staff.

That's him on the left in the picture above with Founder and CEO Aseem Das and Matt Wynkoop, now Director of Sales, West at a solar installation for a Habitat for Humanity project that World Centric sponsored.

Deven left World Centric to return to graduate school and upon completing his degree spent over a decade working in the Architecture and Engineering (A&E) consulting space with a firm that focuses their efforts exclusively on pedestrian, bicycle and transit infrastructure improvements.

We posed some key questions for Deven below:

What made you want to come back to World Centric?

World Centric is a mission driven company and is setting the bar with their business practices and approaches to the compostable packaging market. It's an exciting, fast paced place to be. After years working as a consultant, supporting the development of projects for others, I was eager to dive into a company like World Centric to help move it forward applying some of the lessons I had learned.

What was the biggest change you noticed at the company since you left?

The giving! When I started at World Centric we were still a non-profit with dreams of establishing a giving program. To see that dream become a reality and grow into such an impactful program is extremely satisfying. It really is the cornerstone of the company.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

So many things! If I had to narrow it to one, it would be the opportunity for growth. Growth at World Centric is unique because growth directly translates to giving. The more we can help people move away from conventional petroleum-based plastics, the more we can grow, the more we grow the more we give, which is why we do what we do.
